Biography:  Annie served in the Royal Air Force service No 2033660 as an Armr Asst from 31st July 1942
to 10th October 1944. She was discharged on compassionate grounds in 1944 as she was pregnant with her first child a 
girl also named Ann born April 1945.

Annie senior worked in the armoury and loaded the bombs onto the planes. She was 2 months pregnant and out on the 
airfield loading the planes when a stray German plane flew across, machine gunning the people on the ground, 
Annie was thrown to the ground by an officer who lay across her to protect the unborn baby, he was wounded in the 
leg but both Annie and the baby were unharmed. Annies senior officer helped her to get discharged. 
Annie loved the disipline of the services and always said being in the air force was the best time of her life.
